There Is a short novel from Jorge Luis Borges and it´s called "The immortal", eventually immortals pass their time passively laying in the mud, they are SO bored. It would be, every relation would turn out to be short term (what are 20 30 40 years stretched in an endless existance), the rituals enacted would get boring, an immortal would have to be forgetfull(would you want that?), and than our soul would be trapped eternally in the same beeing. BORING.
According to Wikipedia: Carbon was discovered in prehistory and occurs in all organic life. This nonmetal also has the interesting chemical property of being able to bond with itself and a wide variety of other elements, forming nearly ten million known compounds. Carbon compounds form the basis of all life on Earth and the carbon-nitrogen cycle provides some of the energy produced by the Sun and other stars. Without it life as we know it could not exist.

Hells no. Unless I can choose to also be a shape shifter. that might make it more fun.
